What is Important to You?

DeeAnna Merz Nagel
The ACA Weblog has been up for several weeks and we the bloggers seem to offer a nice balance and contrast to each other. But I am wondering, what do you want to read about? What is important to you and what would draw you here on a regular basis?
Do you check in on the ACA Weblog when you think about it or do you subscribe to the RSS feed? Do you follow CounselingViews on Twitter (http://twitter.com/CounselingViews)? As an avid blogger and tweeter myself, I would like to hear what draws you here and frankly, what you do not find interesting as well.
So, this is a short post- because the meat of this post needs to be the readers. Tell me (us) what you think, what you want, what you might like an opinion on. This is a place for ACA and its members to buoy our profession and our organization!
Here’s to another warm, hazy summer day in New Jersey!

i would like to know more about parent child relationship and school counselling, issues of children and adoloscents, how to cope with these issues, an insight into problems of slow learners, autistic children etc. thank you. i am a budding psychiatrist from india.
I am reading this on a hot August summer morning in DC. Thanks for asking for our ideas. I’d like to see posts on how bloggers and readers describe their professional identity as counselors. How do we think of who we are, what we do and what we stand for as counselors? How do we communicate this to others?
I enjoy ethics discussion and have really enjoyed the commentaries on current events and how they relate to work with clients.
I would love to see more about best practices in all areas of counseling, and especially career counseling since that is my specialty. The high rate of unemployment (10% plus at last count) is projected to last through 2011. That is having and will continue to have a critical impact on those we serve. I believe that sharing resources and information is absolutely essential to enhance real-world success.
I would like to see written dialog from people who know how to use correct grammar, punctuation, and proof-read their work. Learn how to use apostrophes. Learn how to use a dictionary. The written English language is dying a slow death due to bloggers and others who won’t take the time to appreciate the words they so love to use. If you must write every thought you have, please do it responsibly (and correctly).
I subscribe to the ACA listservs. A recent topic that I think deserves discussion is the issue of clinical supervision of new graduates of MS Mental Health Counseling programs. In order to be licensed states require 2000-4000 hours of supervision. It is becoming increasingly difficult for new graduates to find qualified counselors who are credentialed to supervise. I would like to see some discussion of this topic.
