this article was great. I so agree with your words. Our clients feel our energy and the more present we are the more we can truly understand their plights. Plights that we can all relate to in someway or another. I always say everyone has a story, none more important than another’s. For me I can remember so many stories told by my clients that I could relate to or have even lived. This is the true connection between a client and a therapist. I am part of a world bigger and stronger than we can imagine. We all have light in us and we are all interconnected so I feel everyone’s pain as well as love to share their love and happiness. Although they are not my direct problems I know the work I do is going to touch someone deeply whether it’s a child or a husband and that brings me joy in my spirit. If you as a professional are full of problems, anger, disappointment, resentment, how can you experience any of these things? I will stop here but nice job and I would love to read more as you write.

With the absence of authenticity we would be disserving our clients as your piece insightfully mentioned. The reminder of self care and authenticity within ourselves personally and professional is one key component to a successful counselor.
Thanks for the insight!
