Ms. Myers,

Your post is truly inspiring! Your advisor's firm reassurance struck a chord with me. As a new graduate student in the field of Mental Health Counseling, it's difficult to keep those fears of inadequacy at bay, but it's comforting to know that others have shared those same fears and continued on successfully. Thank you so much for such a meaningful story.

Renee': thanks for your comment. You want to start by looking at CACREP PhD programs. The CACREP site does have a listing of accredited schools. You will have choices depending on where you live and also some online programs. I will (someday!) be earning a PhD in Counseling. Most counselor education programs will be listed this way. Most programs will require a dissertation and extensive internship including counseling, teaching, and clinical supervision. I hope this information helps. Pat

Patricia,

Your article was very enlighting. I am currently in a Master's program for Community Counseling at Argosy University in Atlanta. My expected graduation date will be in 2011. Since you are working in the field of Counselor Education, I would like to know more about this field because I am considering in going into a Doctoral program.

Where can I find out more information about this, and what it entails, also the schools offering this program on a Doctoral level.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thaks you,
Renee' Garrett
