Self care, from my limited experience is easy to say and so much harder to put into practice. Thanks for sharing this experience and i think your piece also points towards further important facets of the self of the therapist and that is peer support and supervision. Developing both of these can be instrumental in not only professional development but also personal well being and care in a profession that is riddled with compassion fatigue and burn out.
