Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services (MCAPS) is seeking two full-time (40 hours/week) post-doctoral therapists for the 2012-13 academic year. We are looking for competent clinicians who would like to join a dynamic staff who are passionate about the services they provide to students. These positions are 9.5 months in duration (anticipated start August 8, 2011, extending through May 18, 2012).
The Claremont University Consortium serves The Claremont Colleges, seven private independent colleges and universities serving a highly selective student body. Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services is one of three services in Student Health and Counseling Services, and is staffed by licensed, doctoral-level senior-staff psychologists, who provide supervision for the post-doctoral therapists and pre-doctoral interns. MCAPS works collaboratively with two other student services: Student Health Services, and Health Education & Outreach.
Compensation and Benefits:
Full-time post-doctoral stipend: $25,000. Post-doctoral staff members are eligible for medical, dental, life insurance, and retirement benefits (employer contribution equal to 10% of annual salary). Four weeks of leave time is scheduled over winter break. Reimbursement for professional liability insurance is available. Reimbursement and release time for professional development may be available, upon approval.
The full-time post-doctoral experience is structured such that it meets all requirements for the 1500 hours of post-doctoral Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) necessary for licensure in California. Note that it is the post-doctoral candidate’s responsibility to determine whether this placement will meet the requirements for licensure in other states, as some states require more than 1500 hours of SPE and may have additional regulations regarding these hours.
Essential functions:
Post-doctoral therapists have general responsibility for the following duties: Providing individual, couple, and group counseling (approximately 60% of time), conducting crisis intervention, participating in evening and weekend on-call duties, conducting psycho-educational outreach programs, assisting students in their personal and educational goals, providing training/consultation with faculty and staff of the Colleges, and other duties as assigned. Post-doctoral therapists are provided with individual supervision, multicultural and clinical training seminars, group case conferences, and intake disposition team meetings.
Skills/Qualifications:
Completion (by August 8, 2011) of a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology is required. Previous experience in a university counseling center is preferred.

The Executive Director of Counseling and Student Development is responsible for the design, implementation, strategic planning, vision, and evaluation of a comprehensive counseling, psychiatric, and student development program for university students. The Executive Director represents the department and the mental health needs of students to the NIU community, establishes departmental goals and objectives, supervises and evaluates departmental staff, and has fiscal responsibility for the department. The Executive Director must be able to exercise excellent judgment and have an ability to analyze complex scenarios when dealing with multifaceted mental health and emergency situations, and serves as the chief mental health officer for the institution. The NIU counseling center also hosts an APA approved internship program and maintains full IACS accreditation. The Executive Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Services.

The Executive Director leads a department that provides psychiatry, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, consultation, training, educational programming, outreach, and research. The department consists of 15 mental health professionals and 9 graduate level trainees. The department develops, implements, and assesses programs in conjunction with periodic documentation of the needs of NIU students. The Department of Counselor Education is located in the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education and Human Sciences. The Department currently has four-fulltime faculty and has recently been given authorization to hire a fifth faculty member for the Department. The Department grants CACREP-approved master’s degrees in School and Mental Health Counseling. It has a small doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision. In addition to its degrees in Professional Counseling, the Department houses the Intercultural Youth and Family Development master’s degree. Appointment: The Department of Counselor Education within the College of Education and Human Services seeks to fill a Unit A (tenure-track) 9 month position for an Assistant Professor in Counselor Education located on the Quad Cities Campus beginning August 16th, 2012.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program by the time of appointment. Evidence of successful teaching experience in Counselor Education is required. Candidates must also have post-masters experience in one of the following areas: school counseling or community/clinical mental health counseling. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program consists of 60 semester hours of academic course work and leads to a Master of Arts degree upon successful completion of all requirements. The program is accredited by CACREP and approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapy Board. The degree is designed to meet the current academic requirements of the State of Ohio for the licenses: Professional Counselor (PC) and Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC). Also, the Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree meets the academic requirements for the National Counselor Certification (NCC) of the National Board for Certified Counselors. Counselors licensed as PCCs in the State of Ohio function at an independent practice level, allowing them to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders without supervision. Position: The Counseling Program at UNTseeks an assistant professor with a demonstrated record of strength in research, leadership, and teaching to support the program’s scholarly, professional, and academic initiatives. This position will contribute to the program, college, and university’s commitment to maintain excellence at the national level. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, tenure-track appointment beginning Fall semester 2012. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Part-time summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding.

The Program: The Counseling Program offers masters’ and doctoral degrees in counseling and an undergraduate minor in counseling associate studies. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has conferred accreditation on the following tracks in the counseling program at UNT: school counseling, college and university counseling, community counseling, and the Ph.D. in counseling. The program has discontinued admissions to the community counseling track of study and has implemented a clinical mental health counseling track.

The UNT Counseling Program was the first in the nation to receive the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision’s Outstanding Program Award and earned that recognition again in 2000. The Counseling Program faculty also received the 2010 ACES “Publication in Counselor Education and Supervision” Award for their landmark book, The Professional Counselor: Portfolio, Competencies, Performance Guidelines and Assessment (4th edition) – and won the same award for their 2004 3rd edition of that book. Beginning in 1998 when U.S. News and World Report began ranking counseling and counseling psychology programs housed in colleges of education, the UNT Counseling Program ranked among the top 20 programs nationally for eight years; for 2012, the program is ranked 12th in the nation and 1st in Texas.

Qualifications: The candidate must hold a doctorate in counseling or counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program by start of employment and must be licensure-eligible as a Professional Counselor in Texas. A record of effective research, publication, professional activity, teaching, and clinical supervision is expected. Preferred qualifications include (1) preparation to contribute to the Counseling Program’s national reputation through demonstrated leadership in one or more specialty areas such as addictions, career, clinical mental health, or couple and family counseling, and (2) licensure as a Professional Counselor and, if appropriate, certification as a school counselor.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (1) pursuing a focused line of research leading to publications in refereed journals and to extramural funding; (2) teaching two [2] courses each semester in CACREP core and counseling specialty areas; (3) serving on doctoral committees and advising/mentoring students; (4) providing clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral level students; (5) working with faculty members in the Counseling Program and with those centers, institutes, and clinics affiliated with the Program to maintain and enhance the Program’s national stature; and (6) participating actively in professional organizations and university committees.

The focus of the Center is to support students’ academic success and as such the Center also works with faculty and academic support services around students with mental health issues or students in crisis.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

The Behavioral Health Specialist reports to the HCSS-Iraq Program Manager and will be supervised by the Program Manager or, while performing field work, a site medical director.
The Behavioral Health Specialist will deliver services in one of three settings:
1. Field Health Unit
2. Small medical/trauma hospitals
3. Large medical/trauma hospital and assists in treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
At the direction of the Program Manager or a site medical director, the Behavioral Health Specialist plans, obtains resources, and conducts behavior heath programs and/or programs to:
• Educate the workforce about mood disorders (such as depression and anxiety),
• Provide anger management tools and techniques,
• Provide tools for managing marital and family issues from OCONUS work sites.
• Make recommendations to the PM/DPM to assist members of the workforce cope with the stress of OCONUS life.
The focus of the Behavioral Health Specialist is preventative care such as an education program, employee assistance and coaching to help those at-risk remain healthy and productive.
The Behavioral Health Specialist should preferably have extensive experience with varied treatment modalities (i.e., visualization, EFT, yoga, EMDR, etc) and incorporate that in behavioral health care practices.
For those with more chronic or acute behavioral needs, the Behavioral Health Specialist will work with allied providers, employees and families to provide care coordination and intensive or targeted care management to ensure that the supported workforce receives the most appropriate and most effective treatment.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHS is recognized.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Must be licensed, accredited or registered to practice counseling as required by country of residence/citizenship
• Must hold a professional counseling and/or psychology degree at Masters level
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of substantive experience delivering behavioral health programs
• Specialty and/or experience in trauma (PTSD, Acute Traumatic Stress)
• Experience with Military and/or Law Enforcement personnel and/or experience serving as or working with Army Mental Health Specialist (MOS 68X)
• Experience with Employee Assistance Program (EAP) type issues.
• Experience working in the Middle East or other third world country is a plus
• Ability to work independently
• Experience working with multiple modalities/techniques
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities and duties will be to offer on-site counseling and treatment services (to include mobile travel between sites) for the following prominent issues:
• Work-place conflicts
• Transitional concerns (being away from family and support systems in a foreign country)
• Stress management
• Grief counseling
• Management consultations and employee coaching
• CISD/CISM services for critical incidence
• Conduct mediations as requested or needed
• On call for emergencies
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires a favorably adjudicated Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) investigation conducted by the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
• Behavioral Health Specialist will sign a CHS HCSS-I Foreign Service Agreement (FSA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the FSA. All shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the CHS Medical Management System software.
• The normal workweek is established by the DoS Chief of Mission.
• Non-U.S. citizen assignments under this contract in Iraq must undergo, and favorably pass, an Investigation conducted by the Iraq Embassy Regional Security Office (RSO). This background investigation will be conducted by the RSO’s FSNI (Foreign Service National Investigator).
• Maintains the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.
The following requirements apply to all Behavioral Health Specialists:
o Participate in training, (including HIPAA training) that may be required by DOS or CHS prior to deployment to Iraq.
o Complete a two week Foreign Affairs Counter Terrorism training course prior to deployment to Iraq for work on the HCSS-Iraq contract. Training will include: Combat First Aid, Weapons Familiarization, Defensive Tactics/Driving, IED recognition, Surveillance Detection and Hostage Survival and Personnel Recovery
o Have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License or a country of origin Driver’s License.
o Must have a current U.S. Passport or country of origin Passport.
o Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
o Behavioral Health Specialist shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the CHS Medical Management System software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance with DOS requirements for service in Iraq.
• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
• The climate is desert-like, hot, and prone to dust storms.

The Counseling Center invites applications for a part-time, 9-month Counselor to provide a range of counseling, assessment, triage services and crisis intervention for students.

Licensed or license-eligible in NYMaster’s degree in Clinical Social Work or Doctorate in Clinical/Counseling required. Must have 3-5 years of experience in individual and group counseling, preferably in a college counseling center or with college age population. Expertise in crisis intervention, and the treatment of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adjustment issues and other mental health areas required. Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to collaborate within the department and with other campus offices also required.
